Frankfurt Airport Train

To transfer from Frankfurt Airport to Frankfurt or other destinations around, train is an efficient way to do it.  

Frankfurt Airport has a couple of railway stations: The Suburban and regional trains station (Regionalbahnhof) and another station for long distance and inter-city trains.

See the following options to transfer to railway services:

S Bahn

S Bahn stands for the regional trains available in Frankfurt railway network. 

By taking S Bahn railway S6 and S9 lines to Offenbach Ost and Hanau you’ll be able to transfer to downtown Frankfurt (Hauptwache Station).

You can also take off at Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof, but Hauptwache Station is closer to the city centre. In that case, the trip takes 11 minutes.

Schedule

From 04:32 am to 01:32 am, every 10-15 minutes.

Total trip time is 16 minutes.

Location

Frankfurt Airport Regional Station (Regionalbahnhof) is located in the Ground Level of Terminal 1. It is the short distance station.

The trip from Frankfurt Airport to Hauptwache Station costs €4.95 (adult single fare) and €2.90 (children’s single fare).

Where can I buy my ticket?

Tickets are sold at the machines in the Airport Station.

U Bahn

U Bahn stands for the Frankfurt metro.

In order to transfer to downtown Frankfurt from Frankfurt Airport, you can take U Bahn 8 and 9 lines, which will take you to Hauptwache Station.

Total trip time is of 8 minutes.

Schedule

From 04:00 am to 01:30 am, every 4 minutes on peak hours, every 8 minutes the rest of the day and every 10 minutes after 10:00 pm.

Location

In order to board the U Bahn lines, you need to take them at the Regionalbahnhof Station located in the Ground Level of Terminal 1.

LONG DISTANCE TRAINS 

At FRA there is a long distance train station. 

Passengers can get to anywhere in Germany or Europe by German Rail.
